Helllloooooo. I’m so excited to be blogging again after a not-so-brief hiatus. Given my history, I’ve decided to keep things simple with two scheduled posts a week and the occasional guest post as I see fit.
We’re in the full swing of summer here at Chez Akins, which means pool time, stocking up my Kindle, and saying, “you’ve had enough screen time,” over and over and over.
Well, that and, “stop hitting your brother.” #boymom
So without further adieu, I present the first of one of my running features…Five Things Friday.
In which I share what I’m reading, watching, doing, drooling over, keeping the kids busy with, obsessing over…you get the idea.
1 Parks & Recreation
I was already a Parks & Rec fan when the show first came out, but I was in the mood for something light and airy on Netflix. I love this show. I love Leslie Knope.
It took awhile to warm up, and it didn’t hit its stride until Season 3. If you decide to (re)watch it, may I suggest starting with Season 2, Episode 23 “The Master Plan”, aka Leslie Knope meets Ben Wyatt.
And! I just saw today that Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman have a new, craft-based reality show that’s coming out soon called Making It. Yeah. I didn’t realize I needed this show in my life either, but clearly I do.
2 Legos, Legos, and More Legos
My older son has always been a Lego fanatic, but just recently, my younger son has started to play with them, too. For hours.
Did you hear that? HOURS. I would literally throw money in the toilet if it kept my five year-old occupied for hours.
My sister-in-law got him this set for his birthday, and he’s taken it apart and put it back together five times already.
3 Frothy, Fun Beach Read
I love Elana Johnson’s books, and this book is So. Much. Fun. It’s a fun and silly, sweet & clean billionaire set-up. Kind of You’ve Got Mail set on a beach.
4 Drumsticks
I’ve basically eaten my weight in these this week. I don’t want to talk about it.
5 Getting My Gratitude On
I designed this new square format for one of my Perky Bird Journals gratitude journals, and I’m really digging it.
That’s it. Happy Friday!
xoxo,
Karen out.
